Langkawi is a cluster of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea, off the northwestern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Blessed with white sands and crystal clear water, the Langkawi Island is the largest in the archipelago.
Langkawi's name is believed to have been inspired by the eagle or 'helang' as known in the Malay Language. 'Lang' is eagle for short and in Malay, 'kawi' means reddish brown; thus Langkawi can be translated as 'reddish brown eagle'.
Casa del Mar is a 10-minute ride from Langkawi International Airport and within close proximity to Kuah Town. The resort sits on Pantai Cenang Beach, the most popular entertainment area in Langkawi with a wide selection of restaurants and pubs in the area.
Getting to Casa del Mar, Langkawi By Air : Malaysia Airlines has daily flights to Langkawi International Airport, while Air Asia flies there five times a week from Kuala Lumpur. Silk Air also has daily flights from Singapore's Changi International Airport. International flights are available from Japan (Osaka) and Taiwan (Taipei).
By Sea : Cruises are available from ports like Malacca and Port Klang. Express ferries provide daily regular services to Langkawi from Kuala Perlis and Kuala Kedah. The journey takes 45 minutes and 1 hour and 15 minutes respectively.
By Road : Take the North-South Expressway to Kuala Perlis or Kuala Kedah followed by a ferry ride to the island. Express bus services is available from Kuala Lumpur to the ferry terminals.
By Rail : Train services by Malayan Railway provide a comfortable ride from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Setar and Arau. From these stations, take a taxi or bus to Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis followed by a ferry ride to the island.
